Falling For Pie – Five Fall Pies You’ll Love

I’ve fallen in love with pie all over again so I want to share with you the next five pies T and I will be preparing this fall and winter. I also want to introduce you to my very favorite cookbook, loaded with the absolute best pie recipes I’ve ever prepared. Here we go – Five Fall Pies!

But first, let me tell you a quick story. When I was a little freckle-faced kid growing up in a tiny Maine village, I had the most precious neighbor you could ever imagine. My sisters and I called her Grammy Arlene and she took to the duties of being an amazing Grammy as though we were her very own.

She made us tea and invited us over to play cards and eat sandwiches all the time. She showed us how to weed gardens and plant tulips and can tomatoes. And Grammy Arlene was protective. She watched us from her kitchen window every morning to be sure we boarded the school bus safely and was there again when it dropped us off, disappearing behind her kitchen curtain only after she saw us open the door and step inside our house. We loved her and she loved us back.

A lot of tasty goodness came out of Grammy Arlene’s kitchen! But what I loved best, out of all the amazing food she prepared, was the Strawberry and Rhubarb pie she would pull from her oven piping hot. It was out of this world! The perfect combination of sweet and tart all cradled underneath a buttery golden crust. Bliss! That was my first ever favorite pie. And because of it, because of Grammy Arlene, I fell in love with all pie.

As I grew I discovered I was actually a pretty good cook myself but I never mastered baking, save the cookie. I can make a great cookie! But pies and cakes and pastries all alluded me. Accepting defeat, I found a favorite bakery and called it good.

Until two years ago when everything changed. I joined this Facebook Cookbook group where every month they assign us a cookbook and as we prepare different dishes we share with others all about what we loved and what we hated. It’s really fun and I have discovered so many amazing dishes this way. I’m really into my cookbook club! You should probably join one too.

Then one month, they announced that the next cookbook was called Sister Pie. Oh, dread! I watched as the comments section filled with praise report after praise report. My fellow cookbook clubbers were on top of the world. Apparently, this cookbook had a reputation. Everyone except me seemed to know of it.

I decided to check it out from the library because I didn’t want to miss out on a whole month of cooking with my Facebook buddies but I knew I wouldn’t be able to create much magic so I didn’t want to invest in the actual book. Alas, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Sister Pie can teach anyone, even me, how to bake a perfect pie! And it did!

My favorite recipe from Sister Pie is their Peach Ginger Pie. Oh wow! You just can’t even imagine how bright and fresh and spectacularly surprising that pie is. You’ll be so amazed you made it, and so will everyone you share it with.

This time, because of Sister Pie, I fell back in love with pie again and started collecting more and more recipes to try.

Fall is the season of pies, so right here – right now I am going to share with you the Top Five Fall Pie Recipes you can find online. We had to read so many reviews we practically went cross-eyed but we persevered and now the hard work has been done for you! Still grab the Sister Pie cookbook though, seriously. You need that in your life…

Drum roll please…
