WOWW Walk Review – Bird Discovery Walk

Warrior’s Path State Park Offers Awesome Programs for Kids

We went to another WOWW Walk at Warrior’s State Park in Kingsport. This was a Bird Discovery Walk and it was wonderful! We had so much fun learning all about being a great birdwatcher.

We were lucky to be led on our Bird Discovery Walk by Larry McDaniel from Steele Creek Park. He was our guest speaker and an awesome bird guy!  We thought it was great how he could make so many different bird calls.

He started out with the basics teaching us how to adjust our binoculars and showing us bird guides. After that, we went over to the campground to seek our feathered friends. We were off to a great start when we discovered a Great Blue Heron! It made our day!

We saw several other birds on our Bird Discovery Walk such as; Chickadees, Blue Jay’s, Cardinal’s, Robins, Turkey Vultures and our personal favorite, the Red-Bellied Woodpecker!

We even saw a Hawk’s nest but couldn’t find the Hawk!

Lots of other homeschooling families were there and we were happy to see some familiar faces among them! It was a great way to spend the afternoon and T said he loved it!

If you haven’t been attending these WOWW Walks, next Tuesday would be a great day to start. We meet at the pool entrance at 3:00 and every walk is different but wonderful! To hear about one we previously attended just check out the post below!
